Bradenton Redskins Fan Club Newsletter Volume 14, Number 11The Redskins now 3-8, lost to the Eagles 27-24 in Philadelphia. The lost ties a franchise record ninth straight road game. and for the eighth time in Dan Snyder's 11-ownership, without a winning record. For the second time in a row the Redskins could not hold a fourth quarter lead. They were up eight points with 11:42 remaining in the game. With Cooley and Portis out, many of the Redskins did well. Fred Davis had a reception of 29 yards, Devin Thomas had a 35 yard catch, Justin Tryon had his first NFL interception, London Fletcher had 12 tackles and Jason Campbell was 22 for 37 for 231 yards and two touchdowns (there was also two interceptions).Davis and Malcolm Kelly combined for 10 catches, 139 yards and a touchdown. The problem of penalties still haunts the team with seven in Sunday’s game, Campbell’s two interceptions resulted in Eagle field goals, and the defense allowed 123 rushing yards. In the fourth quarter total yards went to the Eagles 162-63. Of Davis and Kelly’s performance, Campbell said: "They're more comfortable with what's going on in the offense. They're not just going to the line every time thinking about what they have to do. They know what to do, so now a lot of their physical abilities are starting to come out." Campbell threw 17 of his 37 passes toward those two players. The Redskins had three touchdowns and a Suisham field goal to lead the game 24-16 with 11:42 to go. On the next Eagle’s possession they went 90 yards on 10 plays and tied the score with a touchdown and two point conversion. On the Redskins possession they punted after four plays, and then the Eagles went 66 yards in nine plays to kick the winning field goal with 1:48 remaining. Injuries reported were Fred Smoot out of the game with a head injury, Mike Sellers with a ankle sprain, and Jeremy Jarmon with a sprained knee. Albert Haynesworth was still out for the second week with a sprained ankle. About this loss, Coach Zorn remarked: "They're hard [losses] because I think we prepare well and our players are doing what we ask them to do. The players are also frustrated. "We've played 90 percent of these games [well], but it's the remaining 10 percent that we're failing ourselves," linebacker Brian Orakpo said. And running back Rock Cartwright commented: "Anytime you lose it's the same feeling, especially when you go out and play hard like we did and play decent football like we did."
