Bradenton Redskins Fan Club Newsletter Volume 14, Number 7This season has not been good to Redskins fans. There was the loss to the Lions and Chiefs, who have beaten no one else; wins over the Rams and the Bucs, who have a combined record of 0-14. There was the hiring of Sherman Lewis without Coach Zorn’s knowledge, and then his promotion (and Coach Zorn’s demoted) as play caller. There are injuries to Chris Cooley and Samuels. The offensive line is in shambles, for the season, Campbell has been sacked 20 times, and Portis has had only one 100-yard game. Of this situation Clinton Portis remarked: "The only mainstay from our opening day roster that's on that line is [center] Casey Rabach and [left guard] Derrick Dockery, that's it. Everybody else has been shuffled, moved, changed, or injured.... That's just the position we [are] in. We got to address and get some depth. We went into the season, and we didn't address that issue, and it came back to haunt us." Campbell completed 29 of 43 passes for 284 yards and teamed with Thomas and Davis on their first career touchdown receptions. Campbell also had a tipped pass intercepted and returned for a touchdown, and the Eagles recovered a ball Campbell lost while being sacked. The Eagles had 13 points on three Redskins turnovers. Eagles’ wide receiver-punt returner DeSean Jackson had a 67 yard touchdown run and a 57 yard touchdown reception in the first half. Philadelphia increased its lead 14-0 late in the first quarter on a tipped ball, which was caught by an Eagle and run in for a touchdown. On the next Redskins possession Campbell was sacked, fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Eagles. That turnover was converted into an Eagles 47 yard field goal, giving them at the time a score of 17-0. Punt returner Antwaan Randle El also had a fumble, the football bounced off his face mask, which led to the Eagles second 40 plus-yard field goal of the first half. Redskins place kicker Shaun Suisham made a 47 yard field goal just before half time. For the first half the Eagles had racked up 202-128 in total yards on the Redskins. The Eagles had a 27-10 at half time score. Quarterback Donovan McNabb completed 15 of 25 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown. Michael Vick completed his only pass attempt for five yards and rushed three times for nine yards. There were moments of concern when Eagle Brian Westbrook was injured when his neck collided with the right knee of London Fletcher. He laid motionless on the field for several minutes, the only Redskins allowed near him was his brother, Byron Westbrook, a Redskins cornerback. Brian Westbrook eventually moved his legs, sat up and walked off the field. He had had a concussion and did not return to the field. I hope defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is wrong when he concludes: "What we're doing right now ain't working for us. Maybe urgency, heart, want-to. Whatever. I don't know. We're lacking a lot of stuff. The last few weeks have just shown, I guess, maybe our true colors." Club NewsNext week thankfully is a bye. The next game is at Atlanta, on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm. Bobbe and Gary will be back and maybe bring us some good luck!Bob Daly, Editor
