Bradenton Redskins Fan Club Newsletter, Volume 13 Number 01The Giants amassed 241 yards and held the ball for nearly 21 minutes in the first half, with six plays of 16 yards or more in the first half. They were 5 for 8 on third down. Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress had seven catches for 98 yards in the first half. "We just didn't match their intensity in the first half," defensive tackle Anthony Montgomery said. And London Fletcher lamented: "If we make one of those third-down plays early, maybe it's a different game." I do not like quoting the opposition, however, Giants tackle David Diehl summed up the game in one sentence: "We went out there and basically did what we wanted to do, we controlled the ball and time of possession." The Giants held the Redskins to just 51 total yards in the first half, and 209 yards of offense for the entire game. However, much of those yards was as a result of a prevent defense, the Giants were happy to trade yards for time off the clock. I can not put a finger on it, but the entire offense looked out of sync. Campbell seems to agree with me when he said after the game: "...we kept coming up short. Those third downs, we tried to convert and kept coming up short. I feel like, in the first half, we never got into a rhythm." Campbell was 2-of-6 for 25 yards, and the only Redskin score of the first half (and game) came with just 13 seconds before the break. For the game the Redskins had 3 of 13 on third downs. Coach Zorn said defending Campbell: "We're on our way to the passing game, but we're not there yet. That's what I'm disappointed about. We can't run every down in the ballgame. We've got to be able to throw the ball. We've got to be able to protect. Those are the things we need to improve on. No question about it, it's our passing game." "We were trying to run the two-minute (offense)," Santana Moss said, of his team's fourth-quarter approach. "I mean, there was a penalty here, a missed opportunity there, a negative run here. And when that stuff happens, you can't really run what you want to run. You saw it, we saw it, and now we've got to fix it." Next game: Sunday, September 14th @ 1:00 PM against the New Orleans Saints. Trivia: OK another year of trivia. This one should be easy. What was the name of the new Redskins stadium from 1996-1999?
